“Understanding and Supporting Your Child in Mathematics: A Discussion for Parents”
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2018 – 7:00 p.m.
Mathematics is an area that both parents and kids struggle with across their educational experiences. Kids struggling in mathematics have trouble in several areas that include computing accurately and fluently, problem-solving, and reading and understanding the language of mathematics. Parents find it very challenging (and often frustrating) supporting their children as they progress through their mathematics education. This overview can answer many of your questions about understanding and supporting your child in mathematics. Dr. Riccomini will discuss the challenges important considerations for supporting your child’s learning of mathematics.
There will be a $20 registration fee.
Paul J. Riccomini, PhD
Dr. Riccomini is an experienced classroom teacher, author, mathematician and leading special education expert who has taught mathematics to both general and special education students in inclusive settings. He is co-author of the best-selling Response to Intervention in Math (Corwin, 2009), one of the first books to address the subject, and Developing Number Sense through the Common Core (Corwin 2013). Currently, he is an associate professor of education at Pennsylvania State University.
