School Nurse
Summary and Scope of Role
The nurse is responsible for all issues relating to the health and welfare of the students and staff. This position serves as a liaison to parents on health and wellness issues and provides education/training on health issues to students, staff, and families. This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Responsibilities

Develop and sustain relationships with colleagues, parents, and members of the Marburn Academy community that are professional, collegial, and collaborative
Manage confidentiality aspect of student, parent, and colleague relationships, and of internal Marburn affairs according to established school guidelines
Establish and maintain appropriate personal “boundaries” in relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Attend and participate in professional development opportunities
Abide by all policies articulated in the Student and Employee Handbook and other school and board policies
Represent and support the school at various functions both internally and externally relative to the role of the staff member
Effectively perform other duties assigned by the Head of School, Associate Head of School, and/or Chief Human Resources Officer
Support the school and its leadership
Serve on school-wide and standing committees as needed
Nursing Responsibilities
Assists the Associate Head of School and Administrative team with the development and maintenance of school health policies
Provides nursing care to ill or injured students or staff during the school day
Provide health information and in-service programs on health topics including blood-borne pathogens and other topics to faculty and staff
Maintains and dispenses all prescribed medication
Provides health-related classroom instruction if requested by faculty
Manages school health records in accordance with the Ohio State Laws pertaining to independent schools
Maintains accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions
Initiates contact with and acts as a liaison between home school, community health agencies, and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the Marburn Community
Maintains communication with administrators, teachers staff, and school families to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the health and safety needs of the students
Participates on the Marburn Safety Committee

Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and email.
Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed School Nurse.
Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
Minimum of two years professional nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting
Successfully pass a background check (FBI, BCI, Sex Offender).
Physical Requirement
Ability to stand, traverse, and present in front of the students for extended periods of time “two-plus hours” or more
Ability to visually detect, observe and recognize.
Verbally and audibly communicate and exchange information with the ability to position oneself to do so.
Ability to participate in outdoor activities of the school as needed.
Ability to move, lift and position:
Regularly up to 10lbs
Frequently up to 11lbs-30lbs
Occasionally over 30lbs
Rarely up to 50lbs with assistance as required
Hours
Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with the staff member expected to be available, as needed, until 4:30 p.m. for meetings with parents, teachers, administrators, or other duties.
Occasionally, the staff member will be required to participate in certain activities such as afternoon or evening events, and overnight or weekend programs that will occur outside of the regular daily hours mentioned above (e.g., Graduation, Curriculum Night, Parent Conferences, Graduation, Discovery Nights, Dances, etc.).
