In her speech, Kate said, “What Marburn took the time to discover, was a girl full of life and who thrived in ways that might now show on an SAT or ACT score. Over the course of 4 years, I learned many lessons that would stay with me long after I left. Marburn taught me how to stand up for myself and ask for help when I needed it. They taught me that it’s okay to have different areas of strengths and weaknesses and we all don’t have to be the same. They taught me how to learn in ways that traditional schools didn’t know how to teach. But most importantly they taught me that it’s okay for me to be myself.”
