Over 50 parents, teachers, and community members attended Marburn Academy's Dyslexia Simulation on October 10th. The interactive workshop, led by Marburn faculty and staff, allowed participants to experience, first-hand, the academic and emotional challenges faced each day by students with learning differences. The series of modules, designed by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), use time constraints, coded language, and writing with a non-dominant hand to simulate challenges such as reading out loud in class, handwriting, and reading comprehension.
