NEW ALBANY, Ohio, December 4, 2018 – Marburn Academy is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2018–2021 for its implementation of technology into its program designed for students who learn differently.
Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence that use Apple products to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. They showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching, and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.
“To be named an Apple Distinguished School is a true testament to the importance Marburn Academy places on technology,” said Head of School, Jamie Williamson. “We began using Apple products exclusively in 1983 when we purchased our first two Apple II computers. Today, between our students and employees, we use 470 Apple devices throughout the building.”
Marburn offers a one-to-one technology program which means every student is given an iPad in Lower Division and a MacBook Pro in Middle Division and High School.
The selection of Marburn Academy as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment.
Marburn Academy has long understood what technology can bring to a classroom that is structured differently than the traditional one. Not only do Marburn students use Apple products in order to access information but also to demonstrate comprehension, showcase their work, and utilize assistive technologies that are critical for students who learn differently. Access to these technologies gives them the confidence to move forward into the future with the knowledge that there are tools available to support them.
Marburn Academy will announce this exciting recognition to their community of students, parents, faculty, staff and Board at an assembly at the school on December 4th at 2:30 p.m.
