Diploma Seal Requirements

In order to be eligible for a diploma seal, students must earn a minimum of two of the following. One of the two must be from the Ohio-defined requirements. The criteria are current as of the 204-2025 school year.

Marburn Defined:

Student Engagement

• Compete in three seasons over a minimum of two years on Marburn  Academy team(s) 
OR 
• Consistently participate in a faculty-advised Marburn Academy activity or club for at least two years, with a minimum of one year of significant  leadership

Community Service

Complete service hours each year AND complete 40 hours of service in 12th grade

Fine & Performing Arts

• Successfully complete three drama, music, or visual arts  classes 
• Successfully complete one May Term performance or Fine Arts class 
• Present a significant composition or Senior Project at the Senior Exhibition, take part in one Musical performance, or contribute significantly to a Musical through work in backstage crew (sound/lights, costume/ makeup, set design, student stage manager)

Citizenship

Score a three or above on both the American History and  Government end-of-course tests, or earn a B or higher through similar College Credit Plus classes, or a B or higher in US History and Government  (ORC 3313.6114 (5) (c) (i)

College Ready

Earn remediation-free scores on the ACT (Math, 22  or above; Reading, 22 or above; English, 18 or above) or SAT (Math, 530  or above; Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, 480 or above)

Honors Diploma

Earn one of the six Ohio-defined Honors  Diplomas (Academic Honors, STEM Honors, Arts Honors, Social Science  and Civic Engagement Honors, International Baccalaureate Honors,  Career Tech Honors)

Ohio Means Jobs Readiness

Meet the requirements and criteria established for the readiness seal, including demonstration of work readiness and professional competencies.

Science

Score a three or above on the Biology end-of-course test, or  earn a B or higher through a similar College Credit Plus class or a B or higher in Biology or Advanced Biology (ORC 3313.6114 (4) (c) (i))

State Seal of Biliteracy

Meet the requirements and criteria, including proficiency requirements on assessments in a world language and  English

Technology

Two semesters of Tech classes: one focused on Computer Science and one on Technology. Culminating project. Either semester may be substituted with participation in the applicable part of the Robotics Team: Coding or Driving/Building
