As students move into Marburn Academy's High School, they grow toward greater independence. As students test out strategies and try new things, Marburn provides guardrails in many forms.

Advisory Structure

Students are assigned an advisor in the High School to help serve as a point person and address concerns or struggles. During the advisory period, students will check in with their advisor and share what is happening in their world. Advisors provide explicit instruction in student skills, future planning, and feedback on strategy use.

High School Focus

Our High School aims to address student’s academic skills and executive functioning abilities; build effective social interaction and problem-solving techniques; strengthen self-image so students may successfully pursue their dreams; and prepare students for college or whatever path their future may hold.

Increased Flexibility in Courses

In our High School, students have some flexibility in the courses they take. In addition to traditional placement in science, math, social studies, and English, students can choose to take one of the engineering classes as part of Project Lead The Way, Contemporary World Issues, and/or Anatomy and Physiology.

May Term

May Term is an intensive week-long session during which students identify and explore areas of personal and academic interest. Students select three daily May Term classes from a wide variety of course choices. During these extended classes, students have the opportunity to explore elective subject areas more closely. Students choose courses based on their areas of interest. Past offerings have included photography, culinary arts, and creative writing. 

Graduation Requirements

Marburn Academy is a fully accredited High School program and follows Ohio graduation requirements.

Diploma Seal Requirements

The state of Ohio has created a seris of requirements and criteria for students to complete to demonstrate knoweldge and skills essetial for future success post-graduation.

Planning for the Future

Test Prep - Marburn Academy hosts opportunities for students to take part in ACT and PSAT/SAT prep and testing. 

College Guidance Counselor - Marburn Academy has a dedicated College Guidance Counselor to walk students and their families through the college application and admission process. Colleges and other post-secondary organizations visit the school throughout the year to showcase different options for our students.

Students have attended outstanding colleges throughout the country. Other students have chosen to enter into services, join the military or pursue a technical school to master a specific craft. Whatever their choice, Marburn Academy works to prepare each student to succeed in life after Marburn.
